AN IDA conference entitled ‘Innovate to Generate’ has taken place yesterday at the Institute of Bankers in the IFSC to encourage IDA’s foreign owned financial service clients to engage in research, development and innovation activities at their Irish locations.
Those in attendance at the conference included a wide variety of speakers such as Barry O’Leary, CEO of IDA Ireland, Dr Tim Jones, Principal and Founder of Innovaro, one of Europe’s leading strategy and insight firms and Dr Martin Curley, Director of Intel’s Irish based Global IT innovation centre.
Keys areas examined during the conference included the highlighting of RD & I opportunities in Financial Services in Ireland, the opportunity to learn from world-class companies and their Irish management teams, who have successfully implemented services innovation in Ireland, and the chance to hear practical advice from IDA on how to best develop research and innovation capabilities and information on the supports available.
“The key to corporate evolution is Innovation leadership. I hope that my own experience in the areas of conception, development and introduction of a wide range of revolutionary products and services over 20 years will allow those in attendance to see the vital importance of innovation for the evolution of services across all business segments,” said Dr Tim Jones, Principal and Founder of Innovaro.
Barry O’Leary, CEO of IDA Ireland added: “One of the key ways in which Irish Subsidiaries of Foreign Financial Services companies can respond to the growing global competitive challenges is to make innovation an integral part of their Irish business model thus contributing to the generation of new services and products, more cost effective processes and enhanced profitability.”
“Today, more than ever, Ireland needs innovators–those who will inspire the next generation of creative ideas, transforming them into successful product and service offerings,” Mr O’Leary said.
