A GROUP of leading
Belgian travel and lifestyle journalists arrived in the Shannon region last
week to help promote tourism here by sampling the delights of the Mid-West and
to experience at first hand the scenery, activities and hospitality that this
part of Ireland has to offer.
The visit, organised in conjunction with Shannon Development and Fáilte Ireland, included an Irish music lesson at Glór in Ennis; a cookery lesson with Rita Meade at Berry Lodge in Milltown Malbay; a stop at the Cliffs of Moher and an evening at the world-famous Matchmaker Festival in Lisdoonvarna as well as a meeting with matchmaker Willie Daly.
The group also enjoyed an evening at the
Bunratty Castle banquet. “Shannon Development is delighted to have worked with Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland, to ensure the success of this Belgian press group visit to the Shannon Region. With Ryanair’s twice weekly service from Charleroi to Shannon Airport, it is vital that we maximise the route’s potential to bring additional visitors to our region. We are confident that the high calibre of Belgian publications represented on this trip will ensure just this,” Mr King said. |
