Legislation to allow the Pre-clearance facility is currently before the Dáil, with the service due to be operational by the end of next month.

Director of Shannon Airport Martin Moroney said having BA signed up meant negotiations with other carriers had become easier.

“From a marketing point of view, having the British Airways name on board certainly is a great bonus,” he said.
