“I finished college last June and got a Degree in Graphic Design. However I strayed away from conventional elements of the course for my own projects, steering them in the direction of on-screen graphics rather than just print forms,” Claire explains.

“ON-screen graphics” is Claire’s favourite buzzword and the concept has already seen her win her first business contracts from clients in the City and County.

“I do all the plasma television screen graphics for the newly opened nightclub in Newcastle West called ‘WEST’. I’m also doing a lot of work for Trinity Rooms nightclub in the City, which has been a great boost,” Claire says.

As you might expect of a graphic design artist, Claire McGrath is a trendy soul who owes some thanks to modern technology for her breakthrough in business.

“I also do music videos and after I did one for a Limerick rapper called ‘JAY RED’ it was seen on You Tube by Dan Sykes (DJ) who told Trinity Rooms all about it and then they called me”.

As well a designing music videos for hip hop and rap artists, the young Tipperary native is also setting her sights on the hotel market around Limerick and the West of Ireland.

“I was introduced to Bob Power (Power Communications) and he introduced me to a lot of the hotels in Limerick who he provides advertising for, which has been a great help,” Claire says. Now in talks with the Hilton Hotel and the acclaimed House Hotel in Galway, Claire is hoping to provide on-screen graphic design work inside the hotels and video tours for the hotels websites.

“A lot of companies now have large plasma television screens in and around their own business premises, whether it is a hotel or a pub or an estate agent, so there’s a lot of potential business out there.”

Claire offers clients one-to-one creative consultations on each project she takes on brings a unique approach to how a company’s image is projected to its target market.

“I’m about to begin a new contract for Galway based PR firm ‘Thosetwogirls’, which I’m really looking forward to. I’ve just invested in a new computer that costs €4,000 and I’m making great contacts within the 3D graphic design industry so it’s all going to plan,” Claire says.
