Page 1 of 2 Growing up surrounded by white-knuckle rides at his family's famous Funderland business, there's no doubting Patrick bird knows how to entertain a crowd. The 24-year old has already built up a wealth of experience in the industry, while also graduating with qualifications in Hotel Management and Business & Finance. "Management is a big thing for someone my age to take on, but I'm looking forward to it. I love interacting with people and I enjoy what I do. That's what it's all about," says Patrick, as we sit talking around one of his new venue's card playing tables. ![]() The Venetian Club opened its doors as a private members club in May and is building up a steady clientele already, which is most likely down to the professional standards, which Patrick is serious about setting. "Making everyone feel comfortable is the most important thing. We have respect for our members and in turn, expect them to respect their club, because that's what it is. It's their club not just ours," Patrick says. Building links with the community is also high on Patrick's list of priorities. And as a Castleconnel man, he hopes to make natives in the City, proud of their private members club. "At the moment, the club is providing its services for charity. I am helping out some local groups who want to use the club for fundraising nights. We are also open to run themed nights for parties." Patrick also believes the club's members should include both young and old members alike. He adds he would welcome those who have retired that may be looking for something pleasurable to fill their time with to come through the club's doors. "It is a perfect place for anyone who is retried or elderly. They can come down, relax, watch sport on the television, make friends, play a bit of snooker or cards. We also offer a nice discount for pensioners." Patrick says his main aim is to build up a healthy membership at the club and strive to meet standards and then exceed them. "Expansion" is another big aim of this young, bright, confident young Limerick businessman. "We were thinking of adding a gym to the club, and that will come down the line I hope. The club is also actively looking to the Chinese and Polish market as well as locals." There will also be a dress code at the Venetian Club, which in Patrick's own words, will not be strict but patrons "won't be getting wearing jeans, trainers and a t-shirt". The club itself specialises in proudly aiming to provide its members with the best facilities in snooker, poker, video slots and the exciting roulette wheel. |
