Whether it is catering for the needs of the average family or the needs of a business of any size, TruPlan Financial Services offers a comprehensive range of options and solutions to safeguard and develop financial planning for both.
Sean Kerins LIA is the founder and director of TruPlan and some of the tailored financial services provided by it include mortgage brokering, retirement planning, income protection, life insurance, saving and investments and business planning. “The main areas I work with are: personal wealth management, which is either the accumulation of wealth from income or the utilisation and management of assets; corporate financial planning and the identification of specific goals or projected events for the company and planning for their realisation and employee benefit packages, including group protection and pension schemes and personal mortgages,” he said. Sean has been in the financial sector since 1998 and before that he was well known in the pub trade as the co-owner of Daffy’s Bar on Catherine Street. He has extensive experience in the area and spent a number of years working for one of the biggest insurance providers in the country before branching out and setting up his own company, offering more services and flexibility to clients. “I am happy to meet with anyone in my office or at home or their place of work. I also do a lot of evening appointments because people are so busy; you have to be flexible. I start with a one-on-one meeting and that is mostly done on a financial fact finding basis. I ask a lot of questions and get a clear financial picture of where an individual or company is at,” he said. “I then go away and assess the information and identify any shortfalls or needs they might have in terms of lending, consolidating of loans, retirement planning, investment advice and life cover. I compile a detailed report and make recommendations and we then decide on a course of action. It’s both a corporate and personal advisory service.”
“When times are great, people look to see how best they can get a better return from their investments; that has been happening for the last number of years but now, in more trying times, people are protecting and consolidating their investments. The general trend is people putting safe what they have and protecting, rather than growing, their income. I handle a lot of life insurance, pensions and savings clients too. I’m a deposit agent and can put money in a deposit account so they get a good return until the appropriate time comes to invest.” He explained that while pensions “have taken a hammering in the last 18 months or so”, the “deflated, cheap market” has its upside. “People are getting better value for money. Companies are also tending to protect their interests by re-investing in themselves and developing their own business and planning for the future. Even though there is a credit crunch, there is a lot of ongoing restructuring, consolidating, remortgaging and borrowing-all of which TruPlan can assist with.” Sean prides himself on offering good service and personal attention to his broad client base. “The days of an old school insurance agent who calls to your door, sells you a policy and says ‘See you in 18 years’ are over. The industry is much more regulated and the range of options vast. Every client has a different budget and different needs and goals. I go in open-minded and consider the information carefully before offering advice. I offer a free consultancy to clients for the first meeting and in most cases, I don’t charge a fee for mortgage arrangement unless the case is particularly problematic.”
