A LIMERICK business has acquired the rights to provide locals with a novel way of beating the summer rain, while also tackling the current economic downturn, high fuel prices and global warming.

According to Cappamore based Goeco, which sells electric bicycles, adapting is the answer to the above problems and so it has come up with the retractable roof for its bikes, which is a French invention.

“An electric bicycle with a retractable roof means that commuters don’t have to be held to ransom by rising fuel prices and can even save money with a little forward thinking,” said a spokesman for the company.

Electric bicycles today are a far cry from the old heavy steel framed bikes of the past, according to Goeco.

“Those old heavy lead acid batteries are also an antique of the future. Aluminium framed Lithion ion bikes these days don’t have the space age look, but a smooth slick normal bike style for all ages and will travel 30miles without any effort,” said the company spokesman.

Goeco in Cappamore Co Limerick said it has changed the face of electric transport on a budget, what once cost in the thousands is now hundreds.

“The Veltop roof will retro fit any bicycle, electric or not and is only in Ireland two months since Goeco acquired the rights to distribute the French invention that’s selling like hot cakes all over Europe, at €269 its worth the investment for any self respecting cyclist,” said Goeco.

All goeco’s models & video footage of the veltop can be seen on their web site www.goeco.ie or by contacting 061-381427 or 086-3967448.

Goeco was established in 2006 and is the only electric bicycle specialist in Ireland and is also involved with local authorities, commercial industry and the disability sector working towards developing cycle to work schemes, electric bicycle initiatives and tourism projects.
