Potential homeowners in Limerick can now benefit from an online guide to buying a new house in Ireland, which has been recently launched by the Construction Industry Federation (CIF).

www.homefacts.ie written by the Irish Home Builders Association (IHBA)—a constituent association of the CIF—which guides people through the home buying process step-by-step, from getting initial mortgage approval to picking up the keys.
The online guide gives answers to questions such as ‘Can I afford to buy a house?’, ‘What is mortgage interest relief and stamp duty?’ and ‘How do I rent a room?’

It also outlines the responsibility of developers and your entitlements as a home buyer.

Speaking at the launch of the new website, Hubert Fitzpatrick, director of the IHBA, said that “www.homefacts.ie is a new source of information for people wanting to get on the property ladder, but who are confused about the process of buying a home”.

“On www.homefacts.ie, home buyers can get a simple guide which takes them through the entire process, and answers all of their questions. They will also get up to date housing facts and figures, which will help them deal with the banks, developers, estate agents and solicitors.”

At the launch of www.homefacts.ie, the Irish Home Builders’ Association also introduced a new Code of Practice for its members to govern the establishment and operation of management companies.

The Construction Industry Federation recently launched its annual housing report, which indicates the downward trend in housing output is set to continue and is predicted to fall to 37,000 in 2009—the lowest level of residential construction since 1996.
