With the much-talked of slowdown in the Irish economy and the scaling back of overall growth projections for tourism in Ireland, one Limerick-based company has come up with an economical way for hotels to secure online exposure. ![]() (L-R) Ray Kearney, Client Consultants Avvio.Com; Ciaran Brazil, Business Development Manager; Brian Reeves, Managing Director; Brendan Burke, Sales Manager; David Collins, Commercial Director; outside the Avvio offices at the National Technology Park, Limerick Avvio.com have signed deals with Hertz and TripAdvisor to allow over 350 of their hotel clients to advertise on both websites for no upfront cost. TripAdvisor is the world’s largest online Travel Community with more than 25 million monthly visitors, six million registered members and 15 million reviews and opinions from real travellers around the world. 97% of visitors to the TripAdvisor website use it to plan their next trip and Avvio clients will now be able to display their hotel website address on their review page on TripAdvisor, encouraging reviewers and researchers to click directly through to the hotel’s own website to make a booking, rather than using third party portals. Hertz, the largest car rental company in the world, will be including a ‘Hotel Special Offer’ page on their website and will also publish hotel promotions to their Gold Club Members. “This new channel-to-market for hotels has been made possible through Avvio’s unique Affiliate Marketing solution. Although Affiliate Marketing has been about for some time, due to recent technological advances, its potential as a business delivery tool is only now being recognised,” said Frank Reeves, Founder and Chief Technical Officer, Avvio.com.
Avvio.com, which boasts over 700 clients, began trading in February 2002 and currently employs 40 people at its offices in Limerick, Dublin, Germany and the UK. The firm described itself as delivering online results for some of Ireland’s best-known hotels, including Ashford Castle, Dromoland Castle, The Merrion Hotel, The K Club.
