MasterStone, Ballysimon Rd, Limerick

Born in Cork, schooled in Dublin and now a successful businessman in his adopted Limerick, Paul Wholly has been around the block, which these days, is cut from Granite, Marble, Quartz or Limestone.

Paul heads up the half-family run MasterStone, which manufactures and installs everything from kitchen, vanity and counter worktops at its newly acquired base off the Ballysimon Road.

“We’ve been up and running since October 2007 from our premises behind Heiton Buckley. Originally business was slowly gathering pace but since after Christmas we’re gaining a lot of custom because of our location,” Paul explains.

They say the road to success is all about ‘Location, location, location’, and it’s certainly paying off dividends for Paul and the rest of the MasterStone team.

“You can’t miss us if you are one of those people who is stuck in traffic near the Childers Road/Ballysimon Road most days,” Paul quips.

MasterStone seem to have all the angles covered when it comes to advertising their business too.

As well as hitting the pages of Limerick’s number one free newspaper, the Limerick Independent, MasterStone has cyberspace soaked up too.

“If you go to http://www.goldenpages.ie/ and type in the word granite and then Limerick in the location, MasterStone is the first company to pop up,” Paul says confidently.

The Ballyclough resident is true to his word when I check out his claim on the Internet as we talk about the business.

MasterStone are seeing quite a lot of sales in respect of kitchen, vanity and counter worktops in different quality stone, but, the Limerick firm also specialises in be-spoke products for people with special requests.

“The main thing is the kitchen and vanity worktops and then flooring and walls too. However, people can come in with a design they’d like for a choice of furniture.”

“Just last week a fella came in looking for a special design for a bar worktop which had a unique design. We can do most things for most people,” Paul adds.
