A HOST of tourism businesses from Limerick participated in promoting
the Limerick and Mid-West region at Ireland's Largest Tourism Trade
Fair, Meitheal, in Dublin recently.
19 representatives from Co Limerick, five continents and over 20 countries descended on the capital's event, which saw a record attendance of 281 overseas operators and 300 Irish companies. Organised by Fáilte Ireland in conjunction with Tourism Ireland, Meitheal was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr Eibhlin Byrne, who welcomed both the Irish tourism industry and the overseas operators.“The word used to brand this festival-Meitheal-is an Irish word and signifies a coming together and working together for the benefit of all. I hope that all of you will benefit over the next two days and that the deals and relationships forged here will provide a great boost to our tourism industry. Meitheal is a unique opportunity to witness the best of what Irish tourism can offer and provides the opportunity for Irish businesses to promote their products in the most efficient and cost-effective manner,” Mayor Byrne said. The aim of Meitheal is to provide Irish tourism product providers with the opportunity to meet with overseas tour operators and group organisers, with a view to negotiating business for the future. Over the two day event almost 7,300 scheduled appointments will take place between 300 Irish trade members and 281 of the top tourism representatives from across the globe.     Chief Executive of Fáilte Ireland, Shaun Quinn, urged the Irish trade to make the most of the valuable networking opportunity that comes with Meitheal.“Our biggest event of the year, Meitheal holds an important place in the tourism calendar as the leading platform for tourism businesses to showcase their products. This year, more than ever before, Irish businesses need to work together and grasp all the opportunities to be had out there. There is still a lot of business to be won in the tourism market and this event provides a unique opportunity for enterprises to secure a valuable advantage for the year ahead,” Mr Quinn added. The organisations from County Limerick who attended the trade fair included: Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort; Limerick Conference & Sports Park; Irish Farmhouse Holidays; Private Ireland; Castle Oaks House Hotel; Neidin View Holiday Homes; Banna Strand Holiday Complex; Dunraven Arms Hotel; Adare Heritage Centre; Rent An Irish Cottage; Foynes Flying Boat Museum; Limerick Strand Hotel; Martin's Coaches; West Coast Holidays; Limerick Travel; Limerick Marriott Hotel; Fitzgeralds Woodlands House Hotel; Best Western Perys Hotel; Absolute Hotel. |
