Hank Krabbe, the first Managing Director (MD) of Limerick-based Analog Devices Ireland, passed away peacefully at his home with his family around him on July 25, after a long illness.

Mr Krabbe was selected by Ray Stata to set up the Limerick site in 1976.

He also set up the first design center and wafer fabrication facility in Ireland and designed key products manufactured in Limerick.

These products fast became the showcase used to convince other large multinational companies, which Ireland had a young educated workforce capable of delivering high value output.

During his time here, his efforts in establishing Analog Devices were acknowledged by the National Institute of Higher Education (now the University of Limerick) and he was conferred with a doctorate degree.

“Hank’s generosity of spirit made a profound difference in the lives of not only his family but also to his friends, colleagues and the people he worked with. He will be sadly missed,” said Dick Meaney, Vice President for Analog Devices.

Mr Krabbe lived an extraordinary life that brought him from the small village of Tecklenburg, Germany all the way to his home in Los Angeles with stops in San Francisco, Boston, and Ireland.
