A STUDENT at Griffith College Limerick has triumphed over international competition and has been awarded first in the world in the Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Business Information Technology.
Ahmed Jamal Maaz , originally from India, bested students from Africa, Europe, MESA, East Asia and South East Asia to receive the Global High Achiever Award.
He completed the postgraduate diploma on a full-time basis over nine months at Griffith College and sat his final exams in June 2009.
Speaking about the award, he said: “I was truly delighted to receive this award. I am really grateful to all at Griffith College especially my lecturers for their never ending help and support. These kinds of achievements are not possible without the kind of assistance and guidance I was given at Griffith College.”
Kevin O’Sullivan of Griffith College Limerick added that “Ahmed Jamal Maaz is an exceptional student and achieving first place in the world opens many avenues for him. We wish him every success in his upcoming academic endeavours and in his future career”.
Mr Maaz holds a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Information Technology and plans to undertake the Master of Science in Strategic Business Information Technology at Griffith College Limerick next year.
His ambition is to go on to PhD level and to start his own software business.
He currently works for PC World in Castletroy and is their top salesman in Ireland.
