LAST Wednesday, the new Library in the Salesian Secondary School was officially opened by internationally acclaimed storyteller, Niall de Burca.
In his first visit to Limerick city Mr de Burca gave a three hour long storytelling sessions for students from first to third year in the school.
The school is very proud of this new facility and sees huge potential for its future use by all students.
The school library has also been twinned with the Watchhouse Cross City Library allowing for block loans of books to the school.
The official opening was also attended by school architect, Richard Rice of Healy & Partners and Patricia Cusack of Watchhouse Cross Library.
Niall de Burca—originally from Galway—is one of Ireland’s finest traditional storytellers. He has featured in theatre, radio and at many festivals including Féile Earraai, the CS Lewis Festival, and The National Children's Book Festival.
Abroad, he has performed and held workshops in countries as diverse as Poland, Argentina, Italy and The Netherlands.
A spokeswoman for Salesian Secondary School said the school was “honoured that he has agreed to be with us on this special day”.
