Students from throughout the mid-west region who attend National Learning Network’s centre in Raheen Business Park in Limerick received a host of awards to mark their achievements over the past year last week. The awards include FETAC (Further Education and Training Awards Council), ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence), MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist), Sage and ECBI (E-Business Certification Institute) and were presented by Mary Donnelly, Regional Director of FÁS, in a ceremony held in the National Learning Network centre in Raheen. Over the past year, nine in 10 people who completed a course with the National Learning Network in Raheen progressed to further education, training and employment. Val Real, Area Manager for National Learning Network Limerick, said that the day was “a great day for everyone who is receiving these nationally recognised awards, which reward the hard work that all of our students have put into developing their skills during their time with us”. “These skills will be crucial to their future success, as will the personal development and life skills they have gained throughout their studies. All of the staff here in Limerick are very proud of their achievements and we wish them well for the future.” National Learning Network—the training and employment division of Rehab—is one of the largest non-governmental training providers in Ireland and the Raheen centre currently caters for over 100 students. The vocational training programmes offered at National Learning Network in Raheen are PC Maintenance and Networking, Information by Distance Learning, Information Technology for the Business Environment, Catering and Culinary Skills and Introductory Skills Training and Employer-Based Training. In attendance at the ceremony were students, both past and present, and their families and friends as well as guests from National Learning Network and FÁS. |
