Students from Southill Junior School gave a dazzling performance of 'Cinderella-Rockerfella' whilst students from St Lelia's School gave a colourful rendition of 'Splish Splash' followed by a robust performance of 'We're Part of the Team'. This event was part of the Family School Community Educational Partnership (FSCEP) project which has running for the past four years. Three schools from the Limerick area and two from West Clare have worked very closely with the Curriculum Development Unit (CDU) of Mary Immaculate College in developing a range of initiatives designed to build partnerships between the home, school and community. It is the only project of its kind in the country and has been a wonderful success throughout the schools. Parents from all five schools have been actively engaged in developing programmes, helping out with concerts and sports events, and with literacy, numeracy and arts initiatives. Speaking at the event, Dr Ann Higgins said: “This project is an excellent example of how schools, homes, communities and the college can work together to build a better future for all our children. The college is delighted to share the facilities with schools in a way that builds partnership and promotes equity and nurtures achievement.” College president, Professor Peadar Cremin, thanked all those who organised the event as well as teachers, parents and the “109 star performers of the day”. |
