WITH Limerick bands - Vesta Varro, Walter Mitty and the Realists -
winning Indie Week Canada for the last two years this is definitely one
event local acts should make sure they have signed up for this year.
Indie Week will return to Limerick this summer to showcase the best independent acts from all over Europe, Ireland and Canada. The music showcase stops off at Dolan's Warehouse on July 4 and will feature three of Canada's best independent acts - Purrr, Latefallen and Bella Clava. Headlining the event will be the two Limerick winners of Indie Week 2007 and 2008. Following their success in Toronto in 2007, Vesta Varro obtained a German booking agent, Canadian management, and many more festival offers and gig opportunities. A year later another local act - Walter Mitty and the Realists - followed in their footsteps. The band were invited the showcase at the prestigious Canadian Music Week festival this past March and were picked up by management by the end of the week. Indie Week has been taking place in Toronto since 2004. The festival also hosted some of Canada's most promising independent acts and commences every October in multiple venues across the downtown core of the city. The top act from Indie Week Ireland will have the opportunity to play at the Indie Week Canada festival in Toronto this coming October. Acts can apply to Indie Week Ireland online at www.sonicbids.com/indieweekireland. The closing date is May 29. |
