![]() Deputy Mayor of Limerick, Cllr Maria Byrne, gets into the Gershwin mood with Yvonne Cronin, Cecilian Musical Society at the launch of 'Crazy for You'. The Cecilian Musical Society will bring the Limerick premiere of the Gershwin song and dance spectacular Crazy For You to the stage of the University Concert Hall from November 29 to December 1. Fresh from the sellout success that was Oliver, the Cecilians are delighted to perform zany comedy Crazy For You—the winner of three Tony Awards in 1992. The show incorporates high-energy singing and dancing and hilarious plot twists and features classic Gershwin songs like 'Embraceable You', 'I Got Rhythm' and 'Someone to Watch Over Me'. Audiences will delight in the adventures of a stage-struck New York City playboy in a Nevada mining town where romance, mistaken identities and show-stopping musical numbers all add to the fun. The cast features performers such as Des Henn, Edel Heaney, Brian Henry, Kieran McAteer, Mary Healy and Padraic Hastings. Society PRO Shirley Getlevog said rehearsals are getting intense now as it is only four weeks until curtain rises at UCH. "A lot of hard work and dedication has gone in to this show. It is going to be magnificent. Also we are delighted to have Jury's Limerick Inn on board as main sponsor this year and are hugely thankful to Pat Reddan, Aileen Phelan and Sinead O'Donnell of Jury's for making this sponsorship possible. The show could not go on without you," she said. She also thanked the committee, cast, and backstage crew. Tickets for Crazy For You are on sale at UCH box office on 061-331549 and early booking is advisable. |
