In 2006, University Concert Hall was delighted to welcome Christy Moore back to the venue, which had hosted the iconic performer for five incredible sell out concerts in 1996 and an unprecedented 14 night sell-out run two years before that!

Of course it goes without saying that both concerts in September 2006 were also huge sell out successes!

Fans of the sweaty troubadour will be pleased to hear that the great one returns to UCH on Friday 26th September!

Christy Moore has been singing, writing and collecting songs for most of his life. His career spans an amazing 40 years, and includes over 30 albums, both solo and with the prestigious bands Moving Hearts and Planxty.

His live performances have run the gamut from small folk clubs in Ireland and England to premier concert halls throughout the world.

Christy is regarded by many as one of Ireland's most important and influential artists he has been called 'Ireland's Woody Guthrie', and is considered by some to be a national treasure.

"I've been singing since before I could talk and performing since I've learned to walk–songs have infiltrated every corner of my life. I've been learning where the music comes from and how the words sound so different when they are sung. I've been mesmerised by the power of the greatest musical instrument and I've witnessed how it can induce the healing tears of sadness and laughter," Christy Moore said.

Christy's recent live performances and his album and DVD Live at the Point 2006 are the fruit of collaboration with his good friend, Declan Sinnott.

Declan, a gifted musician and record producer in his own right, began his association with Christy when they were founding members of the pioneering and innovative band, Moving Hearts and he will join Christy again at University Concert Hall, Limerick this September.

University Concert Hall, Limerick, Friday 26th September at 8pm, Tickets: €45. Concessions: €40. Now Booking! 061-331549/www.uch.ie.
