THERE was disappointment for Shayne Ward fans this week with news that
the former X-Factor winner’s Limerick concert next month has been
cancelled. The Manchester-born pop sensation’s show at UL Sports Arena on Sunday October 26 was due to be the first music concert ever to be held at the venue. Only half of the 2,800 tickets had been sold for the concert, which was initially expected to sell-out quickly. Most of those who had bought tickets from Empire Music on O’Connell Street have already collected their refunds and there is currently no rescheduled date for Ward’s Limerick concert. The UK popstar rose to prominence after his victory on The X Factor in 2005. His first single ‘That’s My Goal’ was rush released on December 21 and went straight to number one. The track stayed in the charts for 26 weeks making it the fourth fastest selling single of all time. Ward has also enjoyed huge success with a host of singles including ‘No Promises’, ‘Stand By Me’ and ‘No U Hang Up’. |
