To celebrate her fortieth anniversary in theatre, Elaine Paige will bring her classic leading lady hits to University Concert Hall on Wednesday November 5.
Since her West End debut in the hippy masterpiece Hair in 1968, Elaine has been a groundbreaking force in the role of leading West End star and a role model for a generation of young hopefuls. Her career spans the most interesting periods in British musical theatre, working as she did alongside Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice and Trevor Nunn. Paige’s critically-acclaimed, award-winning roles have included Eva Peron in Evita, Grizabella in Cats, Florence in Chess, and Edith Piaf in Piaf. She was nominated for her role as Mrs Lovett in the New York Opera production of Sweeney Todd and recently returned to the West End in the title role of sophisticated comedy, Drowsy Chaperone. As a multi-platinum recording artist and concert performer Elaine has recorded 20 solo albums and topped the charts in the UK when her duet with Barbara Dickson, ‘I Know Him So Well’, broke all records for sales and international success for a female duo. She has also enjoyed many years of live concert success having performed at great concert halls from London to Shanghai and Sydney to Boston.
Elaine Paige takes to the stage at UCH on November 5 next. Tickets cost €55 and are available for booking at 061-331549 or online at www.uch.ie. |
