THE hottest girl band of 2008 — Electrovamp ¬— will make their first ever Irish performance at Limerick’s Trinity Rooms this Friday, November 28 as part of the superclub’s ‘Warm Up Christmas Party’. Sisters, Kally (18) and Tammy (19) are sexy and sassy electro-rock chicks from Caerphilly in South Wales. The teenage duo’s ear-shatteringly vibrant single ‘Drinks Taste Better When They’re Free’ is an infectious slice of bubblegum pop that contains enough attitude to charge a small country. Previously known as Kute, Kally and Tammy signed to Island Records in 2007. Under the new Electrovamp moniker, they released their debut single, ‘I Don’t Like The Vibe In The VIP’ last Christmas and it was hailed as “a deck-humping disco anthem”. Electrovamp, who see themselves as a “dirtier Girls Aloud”, have been working on their debut album their whole lives. “It’s a concept album which covers a weekend. The storyline runs all the way from meeting a guy on a Friday night right up until the hangover hits on the Sunday,” explains Tammy. “It’s like the soundtrack to our lives and it’s all about the things that we do,” continues Kally, “we love doing things like going shopping on a Saturday afternoon, getting ready to go out for the evening and go mental. We know other people our age will be able to identify with it,” she adds. ‘Drinks Taste Better When They’re Free’ is also the lead track from the blockbuster film ‘How To Lose Friends And Alienate People starring Simon Pegg and Kirsten Dunst. Trinity Rooms’ ‘Warm Up Christmas Party’, which takes this Friday, November 28, will also feature a cutting edge fashion show from Assets Model Agency, a Jameson reception, and guest DJs. |
