THE Flaws – one of Ireland’s best new bands – will road-test some new material for their Limerick fans when they take to the stage at Upstairs in Dolan’s on Saturday October 11.The four-piece released their debut album ‘Achieving Vagueness’, on their own independent label Arrival Records last year and it entered the Irish charts at number 18. The album went on to receive amazing reviews and was nominated for the Choice Music Prize and two Meteor Awards. The Flaws have spent much of the summer playing festivals at home and abroad, from a brilliant set at Glastonbury where they played the Leftfield Stage to a packed tent and very well received audience to Castlepalooza where they wooed the crowd into a dancing frenzy and left them screaming for more. The Irish band’s festival season came to an end with a much anticipated appearance at Electric Picnic on August 30 where they rocked the Crawdaddy Stage to a full-house happily singing along to all their hits.“I enjoyed the gig at Electric Picnic much more, but there was something really special about playing Glastonbury, which I will never ever forget. We did lots of festivals and stuff over the summer so we are just taking it easy before this tour and are busy writing new song,” Flaws singer Paul Finn tells me.The Flaws Autumn tour which rolls into Limerick on Saturday October 11 will see the band prove why they are considered one of Ireland’s most exciting live acts. Their set will feature some new material, which they have been working on over the last few months.“We’ve written lots of new songs some of which we have been playing at live show recently. ‘Vaudeville’, ‘Stretch of the Evening’ and ‘I Don’t Want To Dance’ are three that we’ve had great reaction too from audiences so far. We are planning on spending some time writing perfect songs for the next album after this tour. We’re not too keen on trying out new song at gigs that aren’t totally finished, but having said there will be a few new ones in the set at Dolan’s,” says Paul.“This will probably be the last Irish tour for ‘Achieving Vagueness’. We feel its time to put the first album to bed now in Ireland and are all really eager to get working on the new record. It would be great to get it out sometime next year and that is what we are aiming for at the moment,” he announces.A trip to Italy is on the cards for The Flaws later this year. Having released ‘Achieving Vagueness’ and toured there in March, the lads are now looking forward to returning to the beautiful city of Milan for some shows. ‘Sixteen’ is currently receiving airplay on Italian radio and the video is also getting plays on MTV Italy. The Flaws have just released ‘Idolise’ as a radio single to coincide with their Irish tour. The track was recently chosen by RTE as the music for their Euro 2008 closer, which was watched by over 60,000 viewers.Don’t miss your chance to catch The Flaws live when they visit Upstairs at Dolan’s on Saturday October 11. Doors open at 8pm and tickets cost €10.
