Young filmmakers from Limerick will be among those showing their works at the Belltable Arts Centre on January 11 for ‘Made in Munster’—a free screening as part of the Fresh Film Festival.

The screening is to be one of the highlights of the Youth Arts Season at the venue and will feature films by local directors including ‘Stab City’ by Luke Shortt,’ Smile in the Mirror’ by Limerick Youth Theatre and ‘A Boy Da Kid’ by Reuben Shortt.

Only 10 films from throughout the region—all made by the under 18s—were chosen to be screened for their “strong performances, original storytelling and innovative filmmaking techniques”.

The Fresh Film Festival will take place from March 3 to 9 and features Ireland’s Young Filmmaker of the Year Awards.

The closing date for the annual festival is January 25; all entries must be submitted on DVD with an entry form which is available at www.freshfilmfestival.net, a €10 entry fee, a short description of the film and a jpeg.

Films made by 7-12 year olds must be no longer than ten minutes and for 13-18 year olds, the maximum time is 15 minutes.

‘Made in Munster’ will show from 4.30 to 5.45pm at the Belltable; admission is free and tickets are available by calling or emailing.
