HARD-rocking Limerick duo Giveamanakick has been announced as part of the line-up for this year’s ‘Music From Ireland’ showcase at New York’s prestigious CMJ Music Marathon later this month.

The local noiseniks, hailed as one of Ireland’s most inventive and powerful bands, released their third album ‘Welcome To The Cusp’ in April this year. The follow-up their subversive ‘Is It OK To Be Loud, Jesus?’ and ‘We Are The Way Forward’ albums, has invited much-deserved critical acclaim on the GAMAK boys. They also played a host of sold out tours at home this year as well as a rapturous set at this year’s Electric Picnic.

We’re been busy, busy, busy. We’ve been doing lots of gigs as well as TV and radio promo stuff recently. At the moment we’re working on the video for the new single ‘Brittle Bones’, which is out in November so it’s all go. We’re delighted with how things are going with the album so far, we’ve no complaints,” said Giveamanakick frontman Stephen Ryan.

Giveamanakick jet out to New York for the 28th annual CMJ Music Marathon on October 23 where they will play as part of the ‘Music From Ireland’ showcase alongside Heathers, Hooray For Humans, The Blizzards and Fighting With Wire. Over 100,00 fans, musicians, filmmakers and industry pros around the globe descend upon The Big Apple every year for the event.

We’re delighted to have been selected for CMJ this year. Only five Irish bands were picked so it’s amazing. We know some of the other Irish bands that are heading out so it’s great to be playing in New York with friends from other bands. The line-up this year is amazing and we’re really looking forward to it,” said Stephen.

CMJ’s history is a veritable hall-of-fame list of thousands of artists representing diverse genres who have played career-defining shows at New York’s legendary venues. Giveamanakick now join a list that over the years has seen such luminaries as David Bowie, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eminem, The Killers, Snow Patrol, The Chemical Brothers, Sigur Ros, Beastie Boys, The Flaming Lips, PJ Harvey, The Strokes and many, many more, thread the boards at one of the world’s biggest music industry events.

Giveamanakick take to the stage at The Bowery Poetry Club, 308 Bowery, New York, on October 23 at 10.30pm. You can catch them back on home soil at Dolan’s Warehouse on Saturday November 15.
