The University Concert Hall and the LIT Millenium Theatre have a packed entertainment line-up over the next week, featuring everything from gospel to comedy to theatre.
Tonight (March 5), the Soweto Gospel Choir will perform in UCH. The choir were winners of the 2008 and 2006 Grammy Award for Best Traditional World Music Album.
On Thursday March 6, the Irish Chamber Orchestra presents Bach’s St John Passion at UCH. The performance is conducted by Grammy Award winner, Stephen Layton and features the National Chamber Choir and worldclass soloists. From March 6 to March 9, the LIT Millennium Theatre is the setting for Druid Theatre’s ‘My Brilliant Divorce’ starring Deirdre O’Kane. The play is the hilarious but poignant story of Angela who—recently deserted by her accountant husband for a younger model—finds herself adrift in a sea of weird sexual encounters, sneaky solicitors and a bad case of hypochondria. On March 7 and 8, comedian Brendan Grace will tread the boards at UCH with his show, ‘It’s a funny old world’. The show features the sanctimonious priest, the father of the bride, the schoolboy and more famous Brendan Grace characters and will delight audiences in a celebration of 38 years of comedy. On March 8 at 3pm at UCH the Lambert Puppet Theatre presents ‘Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs’ with a special guest appearance by Bosco.
This beautifully produced show has large puppets, colourful sets and exquisite lighting and is suitable for age groups up to 10 years. University Concert Hall booking is on 061-331549 or www.uch.ie and LIT Millennium Theatre booking is on 061-322322 or www.litmt.ie via the world wide web. |
