Renowned Grammy Award-winning artist, Bobby McFerrin, will perform at St Mary's Cathedral Limerick on May 27 at 8 pm, in association with the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick

Mr McFerrin is one of the world's best known vocal innovators and improvisers; a world-renowned conductor of classical music; the composer of ‘Don't Worry Be Happy’,one of the most popular songs of the late 20th century and a passionate spokesman for music education.

A ten-time Grammy Award winner, his recordings have sold over 20 million copies, and his collaborations with such renowned artists as Yo-Yo Ma, the Vienna Philharmonic and Herbie Hancock have established him as an ambassador of both the classical and jazz worlds.

With an astounding ability to improvise and a vast array of vocal techniques, Mr McFerrin is no mere singer; he is music's last true Renaissance man, a vocal explorer who has combined jazz, folk, and a multitude of world music influences with his own ingredients.

A consummate performer with precise comic timing, he possesses a four-octave range and equally nimble mind that allow for brilliant, beautiful bursts of song, leaving audiences astounded, unable to believe they have heard only one vocalist.

The Philadelphia Tribune said that “his vocal mastery is so complete that seeing him perform is unabashed fun”.

Bobby McFerrin’s visit to Limerick includes a vocal workshop and a concert at 8 pm in the glorious surrounds of St Mary's Cathedral, now established as the preferred venue for the Irish World Academy's eclectic array of visiting musicians and singers.
Tickets for this unmissable event are available on 1890-616161.
