Mike Knightson
High: The Polyphonic Spree at Electric Picnic, and Damien Dempsey’s ‘To Hell or Barbados’, probably the most powerful male voice in Ireland.

Hope: Kiernan McMullen to build on his strong live performances and possibly a festival slot or two. A legend in the making.
Giveamanakick’s third album - the dynamic duo’s next release has a lot to live up to. If any band in Limerick is currently equipped to score a number one single in 2008 it’s We Should Be Dead. This streetwise quartet are currently play some of the most upbeat music around.

High: definetely the Electric picnic (that much fun has to be bad for you!) A lot of great gigs in Baker’s, mainly both Oppenheimer gigs, ‘Limerick Breaks Out’ tour homecoming gig, and Freeform Foundation jamming’ it up like no-one’s business. The  Battles gig in Galway is something I’ll never forget.

Hope: Keep an eye out for We Should Be Dead, Walter Mitty & The Realists, Giveamanakick, and The Fewer The Better of course! Next year is gonna be packed with Limerick bands doing what they do best - showing the rest of the country how to rock out!

Alan Morrissey
High: The best gig experience of ‘07 was Sonic Youth and Bat For Lashes at the Electric Picnic. On the recording front it was both exciting and somewhat of a surprise to hear Radiohead’s ‘In Rainbows’. Without doubt their best album in quite some time, it revealed that some humanity and soul had crept back into their music.

Hope: Bruce Springsteen at the RDS will be sensational; having seen him there in ‘03, I can say he is undoubtedly the best live performer, in an old school-sense, doing the rounds. Reunion of the year will be My Bloody Valentine. As far as local talent goes? Check out Tina Turbo - they’re moody, loud, angry and will spit on you if you disagree...
