Ahead of their main stage show at Oxegen 2008, Hot Chip has just confirmed a very special DJ show at Trinity Rooms on Friday June 13.

Hot Chip are set to be a highlight of Oxegen 2008, but before that, lead singer Felix, and percussionist Al will rock the Trinity Rooms with a DJ set on Friday week, July 13.

One half of the band, lead singer Felix, and percussionist Al, will take on the main room at the Limerick club in what is surely set to be the gig of the summer!

Hailing from London, Hot Chip is an electropop band. They are Prince-adoring, R&B-loving, two-step worshipping electro-funkers with a cheeky attitude who are set to inject you with a special potion here at Trinity Rooms.

A potion to make you dance, think and have a little chuckle at the same time. They have pulled off the trick of not taking things too seriously, but yet still produce seriously good music.

They have released three studio albums so far—‘Coming On Strong’, ‘The Warning’, and ‘Made In The Dark’. ‘The Warning’ was named Album of the Year by Mixmag and voted the fourth best album of 2006 by NME.

They released their third studio album, ‘Made In The Dark’, in February 2008. Mixmag had already awarded it the title Album of the Month in their January 2008 issue. Hot Chip entered the picture with the release of their 2000 debut EP, ‘Mexico’.

The EP was a hypnotic wash of subtle, nearly subliminal, pulse-like techno beats, acoustic guitars, and plinky pianos, but the vocals were the true star of the show.

With remixes of ‘Kids With Guns’ from Gorillaz, as well as some amazing tracks of their own, such as ‘Over And Over’, which were released on the record label DFA, it wasn't a surprise when they were nominated for the Mercury Prize in the UK for 2006.

It was just unfortunate that in the same group of elite artists, the Arctic Monkeys also happened to be nominated.

Ready for the floor and an appearance on ‘Later With Jools Holland’ cemented their superstar status and this summer they play Glastonbury, Coachella and every other major festival from Japan to Iceland.

Hot Chip, joined by Paul Webb, Ferg and Erick, play Trinity Rooms in Limerick on Friday June 13.

Tickets priced €14 are on sale now at the Clubhouse, Ticketmaster and on the door on the night.
