The Irish Chamber Orchestra’s final offering of 2007 sees distinguished Irish pianist John O’Conor taking centre stage at the University Concert Hall on December 13 in aid of the Alzheimer Mid-West Respite Centre.

John O’Conor has earned the reputation as a masterful interpreter of the Classic and Early Romantic piano repertoires while the conductor will be innovative maestro, Gábor Tákacs-Nagy.

Mr O’Conor has performed worldwide at the most prestigious concert halls with leading orchestras such as the London Symphony, Royal Philharmonic, Vienna Symphony, and the Cleveland, San Francisco, Dallas, Montreal and Detroit Symphonies in North America.

He is renowned for his interpretation of Beethoven and will performs his second piano concerto with the Irish Chamber Orchestra—a work he recorded earlier this year with the London Symphony Orchestra.

Mr Tákacs-Nagy introduces the music of fellow-Hungarian Bela Bartók. His 1939 Divertimento reflects the prevailing atmosphere of turmoil and suspense of a pre-war Europe. This is coupled with Mozart’s prodigious and very beautiful Symphony No 15 in G major.

The Limerick performance is a fundraising Gala Concert in aid of the Alzheimer Mid-West Respite Centre and promises to be another sell-out.

Proceeds will be used to defray future operating and maintenance costs for this critical dementia care facility.

Each Limerick concert ticket sold for helps secure better care for people afflicted with Alzheimer and other dementia conditions.

Tickets are priced at €30 and book is on 1890-923543.
