DUBLIN troubadour James Vincent McMorrow will play an intimate show at Upstairs in Dolan’s this Wednesday, March 3 to promote his debut album ‘Early In The Morning’.
Over the last 18 months McMorrow has played with everyone from Bon Iver to Iron And Wine, The Dodos, Al Green and Natalie Merchant. James also supported Tracy Chapman on her European tour last year.
His debut album ‘Early In The Morning’ was recorded in an isolated house by the sea. It is a completely self-produced and self-played affair.
His song, taken from the album, ‘We Don’t Eat’ has just been included on the ‘One Tree Hill’ series, and the track ‘Follow You Down To The Red Oak Tree’ will feature as part of the children’s charity Barnardos TV campaign.
‘‘It really feels like this album finally says exactly what I’ve always wanted to say and sounds exactly like I’ve always wanted to sound,’’ says James.
‘‘I’ve taken a lot of interesting turns in the last two years, had some amazing experiences, made some amazing mistakes. One day I stopped, sat down, thought about what I truly wanted to be as a musician, and this album just arrived. It’s indelibly me, it makes me happy, and whatever happens to it beyond that, it is all good,” he explains.
James Vincent McMorrow plays Upstairs in Dolan’s this Wednesday, March 3. Tickets are now available from the Dock Road venue.
