Page 1 of 2 As the founder of Weather Report, Wayne Shorter pioneered a revolutionary mix of jazz, latin, funk, and rock that put improvised music back in the mainstream and whose slipstream created an entire genre. Celebrating his 75th birthday this year, Shorter adds the Grammy-nominated quintet Imani Winds to present-day line-up for his Limerick debut at University Concert Hall this evening (Wednesday)—and this ten-piece band will provide a genuine treat that true lovers of music in Limerick would be foolish to miss, in this, perhaps the most internationally high-profile act booked for the Shannon International Music Festival. ![]() Wayne Shorter If you can’t make it, fear not… there is enough going on in the city until the festival winds up on Sunday July 14.
