Limerick's Bulgaden Castle will play host to a line-up of celebrities including Jon Kenny on February 2 as part of a quest to raise money for cancer research.

Funds raised are destined for the Dáithí O'Sullivan Fund—set up in Geesala, County Mayo after the death of the Elton native in 2005.

Mr O'Sullivan's dying wish was to make a contribution to researching the potentially deadly disease and his friend, Mr Kenny, will be joined on the night by well-known local band, Handipak, and some special guests.

The event aims to build on a previous comedy and music night in Mayo, organised by Mr O'Sullivan's wife, Mary Doran which raised over €10,000.

One of the organisers of the Bulgaden gala said that it is hoped that the second leg of fundraising will be just as successful with 400 tickets on sale for a great night's entertainment.

Ms Kenny said that Mr Kenny—who was one half of comedy duo D'Unbelievables and has just finished promoting DVD 'Back to Front'—is a huge supporter of cancer charities.

"This is a really great cause because cancer has touched everyone's lives. Jon knew Dáithí and he himself received cancer treatment so this is very close to his heart. He is going to be involved in the Daffodil Day launch with the Irish Cancer Society soon," she said. She added that the castle—two miles from Kilmallock—is a beautiful setting for the event.

Finger food is included in the ticket price of €20, and guests will also be entered into a raffle for a holiday, concert tickets and other valuable prizes. The venue doors open at 8pm and the show starts at 9pm sharp.

To book, call 063-20001 and all proceeds will go to Cancer research charities through the Daithi O Sullivan Fund.
