Four Limerick acts are among the cream of new Irish talent performing at this year's prestigious Hard Working Class Heroes festival in Dublin next month.

Flying the flag for Limerick music at the sixth annual HWCH event is Supermodel Twins, Walter Mitty and the Realists, Headgear, plus Nick Carswell and the Elective Orchestra. Over 80 Irish bands have been selected to play this year's festival in Temple Bar, Dublin, from September 12 to 14 next.

Hard Working Class Heroes has become the Irish independent music industry's most telling barometer in recent years. It is Ireland's only festival dedicated to Irish bands and offers a perfect opportunity to spot emerging acts as well as a chance to see more established acts perform in a full festival spirit without having to buy a tent.

Limerick band Supermodel Twins who take to the HWCH festival stage next month are currently at number four in the Irish Download Chart with their second single 'This Time Next Summer'. Hailed as "one of the most exciting new Irish acts of 2008", the four-piece are preparing to record their debut album this October, with a release date set for early next year. The Twins' music has been praised for "blending infectious three-minute bursts of pop perfection with Weezer-like guitar crescendos topped off with intelligent and wry lyrics worthy of Elvis Costello".

Local quartet Walter Mitty and the Realists make a return visit to HWCH this year after an incendiary performance at last year's festival which marked them out as ones to watch. The band have been commended for their "uncontained psychotic live energy" and gained comparisons to the likes of Talking Heads and The Rapture. Walter Mitty and the Realists are currently working on their debut album with Cranberries drummer Fergal Lawler.

Headgear, led by Castleconnell native Daragh Dukes, will also represent the Treaty City at this year's festival. Renowned for their quirky guitar-based songs and sympathetic beats, Headgear promise to be one of the highlights of their year's HWCH festival.

The fourth Limerick act to perform in Dublin next month as part of this rockin' three-day-event, is Nick Carswell and the Elective Orchestra. Renowned for their warm emotive sounds and delicate arrangements, they have been honing their captivating live show with a busy year of gigs, while finding time to record their debut album.

And if close on 100 bands isn't enough, there will also be panels, mentor sessions and lots more over this year's Hard Working Class Heroes Festival which takes place between September 12 and 14 next.
