The Georgian House in Pery Square will play host to the first Irish showing of the exhibition 'Multiplicity and the Search for Infinity' by Barcelona-based Limerick artist, Pearse Gilmore, from April 30 to May 12.

The show—which presents an opportunity to acquire highly collectable incandescent works from the last 21 years, and more recent work painted in Ireland and Spain—will be opened on April 30 at 6.30pm by Noirin Ni Riain.

In describing his work and modus operandi, Mr Gilmore said: "I scrape at the coalface of the other worlds surrounding ours; sometimes light breaks through and I grab it and encase it in paint, wax, whatever comes to hand. I bruise easily; all humans do. I carry a cot like crib to contain me." Mr Gilmore has been painting for over 25 years and became a full time professional painter in 2004, presenting his first solo exhibition in Barcelona's 'Tallers Oberts'.

He has been a regular exhibitor since and his work is represented in a number of collections in Spain and Europe.

He studied sculpture and painting at Limerick College of Art and Design from 1984 to 1987 and has not stopped painting since but also found time for a 17-year career in the music industry working with a host of world-renowned artists including Oscar winner, Glen Hansard, the Cranberries, Dolores Keane, De Dannan and Noirin Ni Riain.

His love of Spanish light and lifestyle, the architect Gaudi, the artists Dali, Velazquez, Goya and El Greco enticed him to live in the Catalan capital of Barcelona in 1999.

His style has been described as bold, bright and more dreamlike than real and he has recently taken to painting outdoors, then painting over again employing 'the memory of place' as a vehicle to re-describe in a new way.
