The Mary Immaculate College Dramatic Arts Society (MIDAS) returns to the stage from April 16 to 18 for its ninth annual musical theatre performance with 'God I hope I get it!'.

The leads in the MIDAS production take a bow.

The show is a compilation show with excerpts from six of the world's most spectacular and successful musicals including 'A Chorus Line', 'Chicago', 'High School Musical', 'Miss Saigon', 'Cats', 'Wicked' and 'Hairspray'.

The show is tied together with an original script written by director, Sarah Goodwin, which follows the ambitions of eleven aspiring Broadway performers as they confide their hopes, dreams and fears to the audience and become the musical characters they have always dreamed of playing.

It is a treat for the eyes with the colourful, energetic worlds of 'High School Musical' (matinees only) and 'Hairspray', the green setting of 'Wicked', which tells the story of the good and bad witches of the 'Wizard of Oz', the amazing transformation of the feline creatures of 'Cats', the old school glamour of 'Chicago' with the continuous theme of an intense audition scene through 'A Chorus Line'.

Following the success of last year's sell-out show, 'Copacabana', this year's production is stretching the talents of the Mary I students with even more amazing lifts, jumps and a selection of the most climactic numbers of six breathtaking musicals.

The show is entirely run by students with the exception of producer Michael Finneran of Barespace Theatre.

The show is directed by Sarah Goodwin and choreographed by Pamela McGlynn.

It opens on April 16 for three nights with matinees being offered each morning at 11am to local primary and secondary schools.

Tickets for the matinee shows are €3 per child with teachers/assistants free. Evening performances begin at 8pm with doors opening at 7.30pm.

Ticket prices are €12 (€6 concession) and are available from Mary Immaculate College Student's Union. For bookings, call 061-400013.
