LAST Wednesday saw Limerick’s only comedy club kick off its 2008 season in it’s new home at Trinity Rooms. Schnitzel will take place every second Wednesday and the first night was a complete sell out with everyone’s favourite television busybody Jake Stevens aka PJ Gallagher playing to a huge crowd in the club’s main room. Host and co-organiser Alan Bennett kicked of proceedings on the night. There was also musical entertainment from Schnitzel’s own Maire Louse before PJ Gallagher took to the stage and delivered a masterclass in observational comedy. On stage PJ Gallagher is one of the funniest performers you are likely to see. PJ exudes pure energy when on stage. Gallagher is fast becoming one of Ireland’s best-loved comedians. Following the huge success of his role as Jake Stevens in the hilarious and sometimes outrageous hit TV show ‘Naked Camera’, PJ rarely has time to be himself these days as he prepares for yet another run of the massively popular series. PJ Gallagher is a Vicar Street regular, can often be seen with Jason Byrne on various TV and live performances, has toured with Des Bishop and has appeared at the Cat Laughs festival in Kilkenny. He is also a graduate of the Gaiety School of Acting. The next Schnitzel is on Wednesday October 1 and welcomes Naked Camera’s Maeve Higgins. Tickets are on sale now at Trinity Rooms and online at www.ticketmaster.ie. |
