Ahead of their spooky stage adaptation of Dracula in the Belltable at the end of the month Teaspach Theatre will hold a fundraising night on October 13 in the Shannon Rowing Club on Sarsfield Bridge. ![]() A publicity still for Teaspach’s production of Dracula. The company will team up with Fun Ireland Events Management to kit out the venue in a gothic theme while top DJs Niall Colgan and Aoife Ní Canna provide the music to raise money for the production and Rainbow Support Services. Some of Limericks best known actors including Richard Lynch, Brian McNamara, Brendan Hickey, Mags Clancy, Celene Natasha Murphy, Shane Whisker and Niamh Bowen will take to the stage for Dracula which will open with previews on October 30 and run until November 5. On Halloween night, there will be two shows at 7pm and 9pm and from then on the curtain will rise at 8pm nightly and at 3pm at a matinee performance on Saturday November 3. “Dracula is a morality piece; it pits good against evil in a battle for the soul of the just. Its characters are archetypes, devices in a plot that has succeeded in capturing the imagination of readers for over three centuries,” said director Ciarda Tobin, promising an exciting modern adaptation of the piece, which is strictly for those aged 16 and over. “The traditional caped Dracula has lost his teeth, the contemporary Dracula is other; he is frightening and as fetid as the fear he espouses. This adaptation is like no other you will have seen on stage or film with directors, cast, costume and set design working together to recreate a unique theatrical experience,” she added. Ms Tobin and Dawn McCarthy adapted Dracula with help from Kilkenny born Niamh Conroy who did the original sound composition and lighting by award winning Lighting Director Tom O’Donnell. To add to the local contribution, Limerick artist Ger O’Donnell designed the sets while Sharon Kiely did costume design and Dracula was produced by Karen Fitzgibbon and Stephanie O’Keeffe. Tickets are priced at €18 and €15 for concession and are available from the Belltable Arts Centre on 061-319866. Seating in limited and so early booking is advised.
