LIMERICK power-popsters Supermodel Twins are about to return to business with a single and album, as well as an all-new line-up. And to kickstart what look’s like being the quintet’s most successful year to date, they have just been nominated in the Meteor Awards as ‘Most Promising New Artist’. Following the industry buzz on the Newcastle West outfit’s 2008 singles ‘Footprints’ and ‘This Time Last Summer’, the Twins locked themselves away in a studio with Cranberries guitarist Noel Hogan to get working on that all-important debut album. Due to wrap up production on their eagerly-awaited opus shortly, the band have just announced that the album’s lead single ‘Bruises’ will be released on March 19. The recording process has not been without its trials and tribulations for the Limerick act with the departure of two band members, ‘‘due to personal reasons’’, according to the band’s myspace page. But with an album release imminent Supermodel Twins have now drafted in three new musicians to their ranks. Joining longtime Supermodels Thom O’Keeffe (vocals/guitar) and Alan O’Keeffe (guitar) is drummer Noel Mooney, bassist Mike Gavin, and guitarist Davey O’Keeffe. The Limerick band’s forthcoming debut album, due for release this spring, is one of the most eagerly anticipated Irish records of the year. Supermodel Twins’ new single ‘Bruises’ is out on March 19.
