This Friday (November 9), four DJs and two live acts will rock the house in Baker Place from 9pm til late for a fundraiser in aid of Milford Hospice.
The Underground plays host to the disc spinning talents of local DJs Niall Colgan, Phil Wade, John O’Loughlin and Tom Frawley. Upstairs, local band Acoustra will make their debut along with local songster Andy Mooney and a special guest act. Everyone involved has given their time for free and the event has been organised by local man Alan Lynch in memory of his Mum, Rita Lynch from Carey’s Road who, sadly passed away recently after battling lung cancer for eight months. “Mum’s last days were made so comfortable by the amazing staff in Milford Hospice. So much so, at one point she didn’t even want to leave,” he said. “The hospice relies heavily on private donations and fundraising events like this one to ensure it continues to provide the renowned palliative care that’s it’s so well known for. Every cent made on the night will go to the hospice. Everybody is giving their time and efforts for free so the hospice will get 100% of the proceeds, and that doesn’t happen with most charity events.”
To make the night even more fun, Alan is putting his cherished Mercedes 200E up for raffle. “I don’t expect it will make much money as it’s an 18 year old car with a good few miles on the clock,” Alan explains. “The main reason I’m raffling the car is because my mum loved it, so I want to show that I’m willing to give it up if it makes a little more money for Milford,” he added. Tickets are a bargain at €10 and are available on the door or from Alan Lynch at 083-333 7470 or from This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . |
