Well there certainly was great style at Ladies Day for the Galway Races last week. From amazing hats to crazy headpieces, from young to old the fashion stakes were definitely very high!

A lot of ladies went for the Sex in the City Style with short sexy strapless dresses, really high heels and loads of bling. And of course the designer shades and umbrella. It is great to dress up and feel good in what you wear.

Whatever age you are it is all about wearing what suits you. Firstly as you get older it is good to look at your hair and make–up.

Maybe you need to change your hair colour to a softer shade to flatter your skin tone, also keep softness in your hair especially around the face.

Make sure you focus on your skin and use a moisturiser and make-up with SPF, which is vital to protect your skin's future.

For all you forty-something ladies just think you are in the same league as Julia Roberts, but maybe with not as big a bank balance!

I think she looks amazing and one of her secrets is that she avoids shimmery, frosted or metallic colours for her make-up. It's a good approach, as these can highlight wrinkles.

Here's a few more tips…

1. Invest in a classic designer bag. Nothing competes with the look and smell of a well-crafted leather bag.
2. To tackle weight gain, walk, climb stairs or run three times a week. You can also join a gym or curves. Also watch your diet.
3. Steer clear of matte make-up as it can be very drying. If you don't use a lip-gloss then invest in one.
4. Buy clothes that suit your shape and height. A classic well-cut piece is sometimes a better investment than high fashion trends. Also a great buy for women of any age is trend-proof trench coat.
