New ideas on how to wear your denims DENIM comes and goes but really never disappears far from the catwalks. Thanks to Chloe and D&G , this 90s fashion crime has gone full circle and is earning back its cool status in the high fashion stakes. Apparently this season’s hot look is double denim, which is a very brave move, so make it a bit easier on the eye and try mixing different shades and textures, then break it with a belt. When choosing a pair of denims you should always look at your shape and see what style suits you. I know skinny ankle-length jeans were everywhere and look great but are hard to wear as they are very clingy. But if they do suit your figure then they are a must and a real wardrobe staple. Team with a silk evening shirt/ top and some gold chunky jewellery for that chic look if you are going somewhere special. A simple pair of cropped jeans which will keep you looking classically cool and fashionable. As the nautical look is back for 2010, team up with a long navy/white top and flat pumps or high strappy sandals. But the classic jeans never date—they always look well if they fit properly and are accessorised to suit your individual style. Saw a photo of Victoria Beckham in some newspaper recently and she was very dressed down compared to her usual high-end image. She looked really well in her faded denims, white top and shades. Apparently she has decided to opt for the more casual American image. It probably didn’t help that it was taking her two hours every morning to get ready to bring her boys to school. Trophy Jackets MAKE a classic Chanel look trophy jacket your new addition to your spring/summer wardrobe. You can opt for boucle or woven tweed or simply cotton with a two-tone effect. Light summer shades will give it a longer life but you won’t go far wrong with classic monochrome. Shapes should be short, boxy and collarless. Bracelet length sleeves are what is being shown on the catwalks. Team up this look with a short dress or skirt or a pair of denims and high heels. Accessories THE bigger the jewellery the better so go for the glass metal or chrome. Top shop has just launched the Marrakesh collection, with bright beads and tarnished gold. Perfect for when the sun shines…. The more colour you inject to your accessories this season the better. Match with a floaty top, skirt or dress. Or team up with denims and a waistcoat.
