When it comes to grey hair what are your options? It all depends on how grey you are.

If you’ve just noticed a few hairs you can ask your colourist to combine highlights and lowlights to blend them in, or you can camouflage them with a semi permanent.

When you make the transition from ‘a few’ to ‘too many to tone in’ you need to think about permanent colour.

Remember, the greyer your hair the lighter you may need to go, but keep within a shade range that works with your skin tone and eye colour.

Hair colour specialists Mary and Kristin at Ivory give you the low-down on hair colouring.

Know your own natural hair colour. If you are unsure ask the hairdresser the next time you are having your hair done. Once you know then stay within two of three shades lighter or darker than your natural colour.

Your skin colour indicates the tone of the hair colour: either cool, neutral or warm. If you get the tone right your colour change can be quite dramatic.

Look at Cameron Diaz – she looks great as an icy blonde or as a cool neutral brunette.
Fashion trends are great to experiment with but on the whole we think hair colour should look natural and ‘fit’ with your hairstyle and lifestyle.

Remember, just because a colour looks good on your favorite celebrity it doesn’t mean it will look good on you!

Don’t go for a trend simply because it’s a trend- only do it if it suits you.
