Last week, Brown Thomas showcased their Autumn/Winter 2007 collections at their Limerick store and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

Guests were treated to a champagne and canapé reception in the new Egg Café before taking their seats to admire the fabulous fashions.
Brown Thomas has recently opened their newly revamped shoe dept and accessories hall. The shoes modelled were gorgeous, and, of course, the patent boot which is so popular this season, featured with many of the outfits.
The dress and the coat, this season’s key statement pieces, are dominated by strong 1940s references across all collections.
This season provides scope for every fashion-conscious woman, with a diversity of trends on offer, from 1980s power dressing to bold, bright dramatic colours. Checks will be one the season’s hottest trends and metallics also feature strongly.
Shelly Corkery, Head of Fashion Direction at Brown Thomas, commented: “Autumn/Winter 2007 presents an elegant, self-assured woman, reluctant to renounce that wholly feminine touch of romanticism. An increasing sense of individualism and glamour prevails on the one hand, and new minimalism on the other. Collections were kept very simple with the emphasis placed on silhouettes and fabrics.”
Exciting new labels to Brown Thomas Limerick this season include Blank, Dr Denim, dvb, Numph and Twenty 8 Twelve which all received a warm welcome on the catwalk.
I really liked the Max Mara collection and also Moschino and Cheap & Chic. Another favourite with the audience on the night was the Vivienne Westwood collection.
The collection of bags by Chloe, Dolce and Gabbana and Marc by Marc Jacobs whetted the appetites of all ‘bag lovers’ in the audience. The bigger the bag, the better…
Highlights of the spectacular show included a black trapeze coat with bow details by Moschino Cheap and chic, evening wear from Versace and Prada, and a silk chiffon Diane Von Furstenberg tunic-style dress.
Former Miss Limerick Eleanor Fitzgerald looked stunning in a Vivienne Westwood; and Lizanna Kirwan wowed the guests in a black lace D&G fitted dress.
After the show we were treated to more champagne and deserts from the Egg Café, which I would highly recommend.
Then it was down to serious retail therapy, as the store remained open for shoppers until 10pm.
