Page 1 of 2 Big wedding days out don’t have to have big budgets
The Wedding Planner Not all of us have the lavish budget of £5million that Coleen & Wayne had to spend on their big day but we still want to achieve our dream wedding.
Who’s paying? This tradition has shifted in recent years to include the groom’s parents, and the couple themselves. There is no hard and fast rule for this, some parents wouldn’t dream of letting anyone else pay for their little girl’s big day, so discuss it with your family and see what works best for your situation. Money can be a delicate subject but it is very important that you know what you have to spend. At the first opportunity, sit down with all parties to discuss the details of how much is being given and how it will be spent. Your parents may offer you a set amount or decide that they want to pay for a particular item like the wedding dress or reception. By accepting parental contributions remember that this gives them an element of involvement in the planning of your wedding. This traditional list of who pays for what can be used as a guide.
