MAKING SAVINGS

Guest list
By far one of the easiest ways to reduce the cost of your wedding is to reduce your guest list.

Food and drink at your reception are priced per person. The more people you invite, the more money you spend.

Also keep in mind items like chair covers, favours & table centrepieces. All these cost increase with your guest list.

Wedding Date
If you are flexible with your wedding date why not consider an off peak date.

Many venues have special offers for midweek dates or off peak months such as January or November and this can help stretch your budget.

With the Irish weather the way it is you probably have a better chance of getting a beautiful clear day in January than in July!

Recruit Friends
Gather together all your talented friends. They can help with designing invites, making favours or lending their nice car for transport on the day.

If there is a baker amongst them he/she can make your wedding cake, any musicians can play at the church and so on.

Don’t be afraid to ask they can always say no.

Start Saving
Open a designated bank account. This will help you keep track of how much you are saving and spending. Check out banks and building societies for their latest saving schemes.

They will talk to you about the best way to accrue interest on your savings.

Financial Institutions such as the EBS Parkway are now offering 7.5% on their Regular Saving Account. This can be a great way to get a few extra €’s for your wedding day.

Hire a Planner
And yes you’ve guessed it I mean ME!! It does seem counterproductive to say hire a wedding planner to save money but sometimes you need to spend a little to save a little.

A good wedding planner will help you get the most for your money and can often negotiate the best rates on your behalf with their preferred vendors, they will help you stick to your budget and help you save time – and now for the cliché–time is money!

Weddings are expensive but by getting creative and by making some smart choices you can have the wedding day you’ve dreamed of from your chosen budget!
