Connections between the Treaty City and the Kingdom are being forged with the publication of a new book on Kerry’s history by a Limerick historian and author. ![]() Gerald O’Carroll. Gerald O’Carroll, a retired secondary school teacher, has just released his second book, ‘The Pocket History of Kerry’. Mr O’Carroll previously enjoyed success with his book ‘Mr Justice Robert Day: The Diaries and the Addresses to Grand Juries (1793-1829)’. Mr Carroll emphasised that his latest work, priced at €25, was also typeset by a local company, Alphaset. “I’ve always had a huge interest in history and I’m a member of Thomond Historical Society. My first book has a strong Kerry connection and I’ve also given some talks at the City Library in the Granary on the same subject.” He added that he would be travelling to New York this May 28 to give a lecture to the Kerryman’s Association, which is based in Yonkers. “It’s a very interesting topic and a lot of my second book grew from research I had done for my first book. The new book has been about two years in the making,” said the Dooradoyle resident.
‘The Pocket History of Kerry’ was produced without grant aid by the Polymath Press in Tralee and is on sale in bookshops in Kerry.
