A TENOR singer based in the Mid-West is hoping Limerick people will row in behind his quest for stardom as he reaches the final stages of the RTE hit ‘All Ireland Talent Show’ programme. Fourteen year old, Ben Escorcio, originally an ‘Aussie’, has been “singing for as long as I can remember” and has already made his mark locally since he and his family repatriated back to Clare two years ago after living down under for the past 12 years. The Milltown Malbay lad is hoping his talent will make him a household name nationally and dreams that one day he’ll make it big in the world of showbiz. His theatrical credits range from the rebellious ‘Gavroche’ in ‘Les Miserables,’ to the cheerful ‘Cabin Boy’ in a production of ‘The Pirates of Penzance’, the latter resulting in a ‘Music Theater Guild of Victoria’ nomination. Previous to these collaborations with Melbourne’s largest amateur productions company, Ben portrayed roles in plays such as ‘Oliver’ and ‘A Christmas Carol.’ “At the time I just loved getting up on stage and becoming a character, then I began to realize, what I really loved was the music,” Ben told the Limerick Independent. Describing his acceptance into the final stages of the competition under the guidance of Munster judge, John Creedon, Ben remarked: “It was brilliant. When John said I was through, I could have ran and shrieked with joy, luckily I remembered I was on camera.” Ben has a live show on January 31, on RTÉ 1 and is practicing non-stop, as he is determined to bring the ‘All Ireland Talent Show’ cup home to Munster. Tune into the ALL-Ireland Talent Show this Sunday on RTÉ One, at 6.30pm and VOTE FOR BEN!
