Page 1 of 2 Gardaí are investigating possible links between gangs of criminals terrorising Co Limerick this week as it emerged that two bookmakers and a shop in west Limerick were targeted in a 36-hour period.
Lucey’s Shop in Patrickswell was also robbed at gunpoint last week and it may be that this could be related to a similar raid at the Amber Filling Station on the Old Cork Road in early February. The most recent crime spree began when Boyles Bookmakers in Adare was raided around 4.15am on Sunday morning.
The amount of money stolen has not yet been released. The Newcastle West branch of the same bookmakers was the target of an attempted break-in between 2 and 3am yesterday morning (February 19) when several raiders were disturbed by Gardaí. The gang were using a silver car—believed to have been stolen earlier in the day—and CCTV footage of the incident is being examined. Local Gardaí have told the Limerick Independent they believe that the two raids are connected and are liaising on the matter. Meanwhile, a discount store on the Killarney Road in Abbeyfeale was also broken into and ransacked around 11.40am on Tuesday night.
Some stock was stolen but the gang did not get any cash. Local gardaí are seeking four males—also driving a silver car. Witnesses of any of the incidents are asked to contact the relevant stations.
