New Heathrow service ‘unlikely’ E-mail

The Shannon Airport Authority has conceded that it is now “highly unlikely” that an alternative Shannon to Heathrow service will be secured by next January after the announcement that British Midlands will not take up the route.

BMI told the SAA last week that it was not in a position to commit resources because of expansion elsewhere but the authority has vowed to keep communication lines open.

There is now just two days left until the October 11 deadline for the receipt of submissions for slots at Heathrow in 2008 and the Mayor of Clare, Patricia McCarthy, among others has criticised Government for “the wringing of hands and many crocodile tears” on the issue.
